Bicycle Therapy

I know, I know. I ride my bike a lot of places. It’s basically a bastion of the annoying, yuppie middle class and I’m kind of ashamed to admit it here. (Though, truth be told my bike is a 30 year old work horse—isn’t pretty at all and is cheap as dirt. I also ride it in all weather rain or shine). Let me say, Bicycle Therapy is a great shop to go to if you need Bike Things. It’s not overly hipsterish. People do not talk down to you and the service charge is really cheap.

I voted!

I voted today.  When I went to my polling place I was happy (and not surprised) to see the neighborhood old guard working the polls.   Though I did pass one obvious yuppie on my way in, everyone else who was voting was OG South Philly.  Yuppies only care when it’s time to vote for Obama to prove they’re not racist.

South Street Bridge

One of the best things about this neighborhood is the South Street Bridge.  It provides a convenient link to West Philadelphia without fighting with the issues of heavy center city traffic.  Or it did, until last year when they took the cot damn thing down to rebuild it.  I mean, it did need serious rebuilding but shit, yos.    Not that I go into West Philly that often.  I do shower daily after all and do not eat falafel every day.   But, on the other end of the South Street Bridge is the University City train station.

Oh well.

There's a YARN STORE at 19th and South

Seriously, kids.  A fucking YARN STORE.

Also on the corner of Gray’s Ferry and Bainbridge there is some weird hipster store where rich girls spend daddy’s money making / selling messenger bags.

DIE!
